Curvier Forms
4 December 2022
Crescent shaped sofas, mushroom lighting and arc inspired side consoles — interiors have been embracing the curve and it has rarely been more prominent than it is now. Here we’ve selected some designs that we believe stylishly showcase this curvier form trend and will lend your space a more free-form hand.

The Yves Sofa by Porada is a bold and stylish statement design, featuring a gentle crescent curve seat that is echoed by back and arm supports that gently cascade into the rounded edges of the seat. Available in a wide range of fabrics and finishes, and can come with an optional footstool which cleverly nestles snugly into the sofa curve.

For a contemporary standalone footstool, the Lagom Pouf by Porada features rounded edges that provide a pillow like shape to this design, also available in a host of fabrics and finishes to suit various interiors.

If you’re looking for sleek yet unusual storage, the Blues Sideboard by Cattelan Italia will deliver. With its perfectly symmetrical stylised rounded shape, finished in titanium lacquered wood, this design offers high style with a nod to curvy retro inspirations. The sideboard is completed with curved feet and a smoked glass top.

Extending the curves further into your room, the Penguin Side Table by Cattelan Italia is a playful and bold design, featuring a sleek circular top that appears to float while supported by a cylindrical open storage base. The design is finished in embossed lacquered steel in titanium or bronze.

For a natural-look introduction of the curve, the Ekero Family of designs by Porada offers a variety of design function from side tables and coffee tables, to clothes stands and mirrors, which are all supported by a unique bottle-shape base in marble, leaning into the natural and organic inspirations available in nature.

Lastly, for an artful and powerful statement, the Arx Floor Lamp by Cattelan Italia is the embodiment of the curve as this is quintessentially its shape. Supported by a round solid base, the stem extends upwards into a bold semi-circle and ends with a circular LED-light diffuser.

Organically-Shaped Lighting
26 November 2022
The rise of organic-inspired designs within interiors has given our spaces new and unique points of view. Unexpected forms can make for interesting talking points and divert the focal point of the room, all whilst adding an organic fluidity to our space.
This trend has never been hotter than it is within home lighting. Here we’ve curated some of our favourite designs that we believe bring an organic flair to any space
Pictured above: Lake Wall Light and Nueé Suspension Light by Foscarini
The Lake Wall Light by Foscarini features a sinuous shape with a lipped edge that cleverly conceals its LED light source and cascades a soft glow across the glossy surface. Available in ivory for a cool casting, or red for a warm embrace — place the two next to one another for a contrasting impact. For a more sculpted look, the Nueé Suspension Light by Foscarini has an effortless cloud-like appearance made from shapeable bonded polyester fabric that seamlessly diffuses light.
Pictured above: Gregg Suspension Light by Foscarini and Velar Suspension Light by Cattelan Italia
The Gregg Suspension Light by Foscarini is a rounded irregular shape appearing to float bubble-like in mid-air. The white blown-glass structure is supported by a metal suspension and diffuses a warm glow around your space.
For a contemporary cluster, the Velar Suspension Light by Cattelan Italia is a geometric design reminiscent of wings, made from folded glass neatly concealing an LED strip in its fold. Grouping a few together brings to mind a flock of very abstract birds, in flight.
Pictured above: Nahun Suspension Light and Magellano Suspension Light by Cattelan Italia
For more linear fluid shapes the Nahun Suspension Light or the Magellano Suspension Light both by Cattelan Italia offer softly curved lacquered steel forms that seem to suspend unexpectedly in the air, casting light from cleverly placed LED strips.
Whatever design best suits your space, these free-form and organic-inspired designs allow you to fuse your indoor space with the beauty of fluidity and surprise.
Terrazzo-Inspired Designs
19 November 2022
Terrazzo as we know it is said to have originated in the 1500s when Italian marble workers looked for a way to use up offcuts. This composite material is made up of chips of marble, glass, granite, quartz, or other suitable materials, scattered and bonded together, then polished. With the rise of digital print we’ve seen many material variations and patterns inspired by it. Here are some of our favourite designs that feature more than a nod to this sought-after technique.
Pictured above: Terrazzo Rug by Calligaris
With a name that hails directly from its inspiration is the Terrazzo Rug by Calligaris, which features a pattern in brick and stone tones echoing the organic shapes found in Terrazzo itself. Available in a selection of sizes to suit your space.
Pictured above: Dix Table and Kangoo Side Table by Connubia Calligaris
Direct references are also found on the Kangoo Side Table and Dix Table by Connubia Calligaris in Terrazzo-print melamine, which has a white background decorated with 'chips' of stone and graphite. The Dix features a distinctive ten-sided polygon base that tapers upwards and supports a circular top. The nest-able Kangoo has a retro and playful influence, featuring a round bar base and a slightly smaller tabletop connected by a single slender stem, in a truly enjoyable design.
Pictured above: Terminal Keramik Console Table and Billy Keramik Coffee Table by Cattelan Italia
For an elegant and sleek Terrazzo-inspired ceramic, the Terminal Keramik Premium Console Table by Cattelan Italia and the Billy Keramik Coffee Table by Cattelan Italia both come in Zefiro, a finish that captures the heart of Terrazzo with a modern twist, in a print reminiscent of beautiful slices of agate in contrasting tones.
Pictured above: Duel Table and Eco Stone finish by Connubia Calligaris
Lastly the Duel Table by Connubia Calligaris showcases their Eco Stone finish, a composite of recycled fibreglass and fibre-based materials. This sits atop a statement base of interlocking tubular legs in a criss cross arrangement.
Terrazzo is on the rise and fun to explore — why not bring a little of this popular composite into your own space?
Warming Shades of Brown
12 November 2022
Calm, grounding, resilient and warm, the colour brown offers so much and yet has been largely overlooked in interior trends for decades. Now a new type of minimalism is forming and there’s no denying its pull. Gone are the days when ‘minimalist’ meant stark white walls and grey furniture; now shades of brown are being used to introduce warmth to our spaces. Still in-keeping with a stripped-back approach as its not too bold or playful, and imuted enough to feature in bolder palettes, acting as a stable and cosy comfort.
Pictured above: Tuka Soft Chair Wood Legs by Connubia Calligaris and Lancer Wood Table by Cattelan Italia
The Tuka Soft Chair Wood Legs by Connubia Calligaris offers a contemporary aesthetic from its angular wood frame, deep curved seat back and ruched upholstery. The upholstery comes in a range of finishes including Tobacco Vintage Faux Leather seen here, which adds a touch of modern and allows the warm tone to envelope you when seated. You may want to extend these tones to your table and the Lancer Wood Table by Cattelan Italia is seen here in an earthy Canaletto Walnut wood contrasted with bronze lacquered steel geometric intersecting legs, allowing the warmth of layered brown tones to really radiate.
Pictured above: Cosmos Mirror and Award TV Unit by Cattelan Italia
To warm up your wall space the Cosmos Mirror by Cattelan Italia features a decorative concave frame with a fluid free-formed look. This can be selected in a bronzed finish, for a golden glow to further enhance the design's reflections. Or why not explore the contemporary Award TV Unit by Cattelan Italia, with its refined marble ceramic top and curved front corners. This open-compartment design is made from a lacquered wood frame seen here in bronze, a sleek but warm finish to sit cosily within your space.
Pictured above: Matics Open Storage Cupboard by Porada and Penguin Side Table by Cattelan Italia
Similarly the Matics Open Storage Cupboard by Porada is a luxurious storage unit made from canaletto walnut with LED internal lighting for a warm glow. It can be customised with a textured bronze metal or reconstituted leather inside back panel — and optional reconstituted-leather-fronted drawers, seen here in Naturale, can be added.
For a flexible update, the Penguin Side Table by Cattelan Italia can easily be added in to your space and in bronze lacquered steel it almost resembles smooth chocolate. This pop of brown is further enhanced by the open cylinder design form, which casts dark shading throughout the unit.
So don’t just bring out the warmth because of seasonal change — embrace a new type of modernism and add some warming brown shades. See how this simple colour palette can make a difference to your interiors.
